Why I'm Running
People often ask me why I decided to run for the Texas Senate. The answer isn't that I always dreamed of holding public office. In fact, I never did.
My journey began in 2019 when I volunteered to help manage another candidate's campaign for this very Senate seat. At the time, I simply wanted to use my experience in communications, nonprofit leadership, and organizational development to help someone I believed in. What I didn't realize was that the experience would completely change my understanding of public service.
As I traveled throughout South Texas, attended legislative hearings, studied legislation, and listened to people across our district, I discovered something that has stayed with me ever since.
South Texas is filled with hardworking, generous, resilient people who love their families, value their freedoms, and care deeply about their communities. Yet too many feel unheard, overlooked, or resigned to believing that meaningful change isn't possible.
I don't believe that.
I believe the people of South Texas deserve representation that reflects their values, listens to their concerns, and who works every day to faithfully steward the public trust.
Over the past seven years, I've continued learning, serving, and engaging with communities across Senate District 21. I've testified before legislative committees, participated in countless community meetings, built relationships throughout the district, and spent thousands of hours studying the issues that will shape the future of South Texas.
Along the way, my conviction has only grown stronger. I believe government exists to protect the God-given freedoms and liberties of the people, provide for public safety, maintain essential infrastructure, and faithfully steward the public trust. Beyond that, government should empower citizens - not replace personal responsibility, local leadership, or the vital role of families, churches, businesses, and community organizations.
I'm running because I believe this is a defining moment for South Texas. We have an opportunity to restore confidence in government through transparency and accountability. We can protect election integrity so every legal vote counts and every citizen has confidence in the outcome. We can secure our long-term water and energy future, strengthen agriculture, eliminate Texas' property tax system and replace it with a fair consumption-based tax system, protect every innocent human life through equal protection under the law, expand economic opportunity, and ensure that future generations inherit a stronger South Texas than the one entrusted to us.
These aren't isolated issues.
They're all connected by one guiding principle:
Faithful stewardship.
Whether we're talking about taxpayer dollars, water resources, constitutional freedoms, public safety, or the trust citizens place in their elected officials, every decision should begin with one question:
What does faithful stewardship require of us here?
That question has guided my work in nonprofits, business, ministry, and community service. It is the same question I will ask, as your State Senator.
I'm not running because I believe I have all the answers. I'm running because I believe leadership begins with listening, learning, telling the truth, standing firmly on principle, and never forgetting who public office belongs to. It is simply entrusted to someone for a season.
If you choose to entrust me with that responsibility, I will work every day to earn your trust through integrity, accountability, transparency, and faithful stewardship. Together, I believe we can leave South Texas stronger than we found it - for our children, our grandchildren, and generations yet to come.
